Is no magnet attraction a criterion to distinguish stainless steel

    People usually think that magnet attraction can be used to verify whether stainless steel is authentic. If the stainless steel can't be attract - ed by a magnet, it is considered as genuine. In fact, this is an extremely one-sided and inaccurate method to distinguish stainless steel.

   There are many types of stainless steel, which can be classified into austenite, martensite and ferrite at normal temperature. The austenite is non-magnetic or weakly magnetic, while martensite and ferrite are magnetic.
